Linda Joy (Derrett) Yarbrough, 59, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in her nursing home facility from complications related to ongoing health issues. In hospice care for only a few days prior to her death, Linda passed peacefully in her sleep.

Born in Baytown, Texas, January 15, 1962, she spent her youth in Houston, later settling primarily in and around Cherokee County, up until the last year in and a half, when she relocated to Humble, Texas to be near family.

Linda loved the Lord with all she had, and she witnessed His love to others in word and in deed. She loved attending church when she was able, praising him and giving thanks. She was known for not letting anyone get out of her sight without saying “God Bless You!”

Anyone who knew Linda, knew her family was her greatest joy. She loved her children and grandchildren tremendously. She touched the hearts of many, not just family. Known for her sense of humor, Linda had a gift for making life fun for those around her. She never met a stranger, and it was her joy to make people smile.

She leaves behind daughter, Melissa Haseloff Lof and husband Bob; granddaughters Kailee and Kynlee Hymel; ex-husband, Dennis Yarbrough, who always had a special place in her heart and several siblings, nieces and nephews.

It was joyful to her that in the last couple of years, she was connected with extended family, found due to an Ancestry DNA discovery.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Audra D. and Jessie “Jet” Derrett; son, Aaron Yarbrough; and sister, Jeanna Black.

The family wishes to express thanks to the staff of both Crimson Heights Health and Wellness and Altus Hospice for their care and support.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date for family members and friends.
