Larry C. Smith, Sr.

Funeral services for Larry C. Smith Sr., 80, of Rusk, were at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. E. Keith Hassell. Burial was private.

Mr. Smith passed away September 5, 2021. He was born March 15, 1941 in Crosby, Texas, to the late Homer and Dorothy Smith. He was in the United States Navy, retired from the State of Texas as an officer at TDCJ. He had many hobbies; and was known for his love of the outdoors. He loved to bow hunt, fish and garden. He had a passion for Karaoke, but his true love was that of his family and time spent with them. He loved being Papow and sharing the love of the outdoors with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda Machelle Smith, and granddaughter Amber Vaughn.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Zella Smith of Rusk; son Larry “Carl” Smith Jr. of Rusk; daughter Katrina and her husband John Burns of Rusk; grandchildren, Nikki and her husband Bryan Cook of Rusk, Keith and his wife Christina Gault of Rusk, Larry and his wife Ariel Gault of Tomball; great-grandchildren, JJ Boroughs, Mason Cook, Bryan Christopher Gault, Jaron Cook, Meeka Liles, Sophia Cook, Emily Cook, Amelia Cook, Peyton Gault, Aron Gault; and brother Brent and his wife Bobbie Smith of Grandbury. Also included are his bonus grandchildren who were equally special to him, Casey Kantner and her family, Kyle Burns and his family, as well as Christina Sorrentino and her family.

Pallbearers were Keith Gault, Larry Gault, Kyle Burns, Bryan Cook, JJ Boroughs, Mason Cook, Bryan Christopher Gault, and Jaron Cook.
