Ben A. Talley was born January 24, 1949 in Memphis, Texas and went home to be with Jesus at 2:45 on September 4, 2021.

Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents Ben and Elois Talley of Claude, Texas, and son, Benjamen Jason Talley, United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Lynda of Jacksonville; son Scott Farmer/ wife Amanda of Prosper, Texas; daughter, Valerie Gibbons/Tracy of Chino Valley, Arizona; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters Frances/Kevin Rutledge of Northport, Al, Marolyn/Lee Welch of Tyler, Tx, Carolyn/Lonnie Little of Alexandria, La; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

God touched Ben’s heart at the age of 16 and he responded to that call into the ministry. Being so young, he served God by working with youth, pulpit supply, and leading music in church services. To complete God’s call, Ben received a Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas.

Ben pastored churches in Texas, New Mexico, and Florida. Ben also served as a LifeWay Christian Bookstore manager in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He had currently served as senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Rusk, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, family request giving to a local mission project or charity.

Ben will be laid to rest in the New York Cemetery., New York, Texas. There will be a graveside service only which will be Wednesday, September 8th at 10:00 am. Family and friends will have an opportunity to visit after the service in the New York Baptist Church fellowship hall. Arrangements are in the care of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.
