Mike Green, the most recent owner of KTLU 1580 and FM Translator in 103.9 Rusk, has passed away.

According to The Hood County News online, Green, 60, died on April 7 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

Although his presence in East Texas is recent – the FCC approved transfer of the local station to Green on March 30 – Green spent several years in radio in the Glen Rose area.

He is remembered for his role in helping radio station KOME 95.5 launch live Glen Rose High School football and basketball broadcasts in the fall of 2015, as well as for the purchase of KOME.

Under his tutelage, the station moved from a country-western format to country rock, then ultimately in to its current classic rock and pop format in 2018, according to The Hood County News.

A message posted on KOME’s Facebook page states that 95.5 “will go on,” adding, “it won’t be the same without Mike at the controls, as he was one of a kind,” the paper reported.
