Funeral services for Roy Wendell Durrett, 81, of Rusk, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Rusk with Pastor Marco Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery, in Frankston, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the funeral home.

He passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2020. He was born Oct. 26, 1938, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Joe and Oletha Durrett. He was raised in Muleshoe, Texas. He loved farming, fishing and hunting and never met a stranger. He was a deacon and then became an ordained minister. He was also a Gideon, as well as chaplain for the state of Texas Square Dance Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his infant sons, John Weldon and Timothy Edell, and sister, Bobbie Bruney.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Paula Ann Durrett of Rusk; children, Roy Wayne and his wife Patricia Durrett of Rusk, Pamula Beth and her husband Clifford Threadgill of New Caney and David Joe and his wife Deborah Durrett of Dallas; grandchildren, Christina and Myron Moore, Candice and Bernard Finney, Krystal and Donnie Anderson, Sean and Amber Hunt, Kirstin and Brandon Shipley, David Durrett, Angel Durrett; great-grandchildren, four boys and six girls; brother, Troy Durrett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the funeral home.
