Kenneth R. Birdwell
Graveside services for Kenneth R. Birdwell, 85, of Rusk will be 2 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2020, at McKnight Cemetery, CR 975 off of Hwy 204, in Cushing, Texas, under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home-Rusk with Brother Mike Williams opening in prayer, and with Brother Don Copeland and Pastor David Haines officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Birdwell was born on Sept. 10, 1934, in Cushing, to the late Lillie and Hurshel Birdwell. He passed on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in Rusk. He was a member of the McKnight Methodist Church in Cushing. He worked as a butcher for Piggle Wiggly, Brookshire Brothers, Richard’s and Ocker’s Affiliated Food Stores in Rusk. He enjoyed hunting trips to Carey Ranch with long-time friends and spending time with his large family. He also loved going to Colorado to enjoy looking at the mountains.
He was predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Helene and Sam Shingle, Bobby and Kay Birdwell and James, JJ Birdwell and Billie Birdwell of Cushing.
He is survived by daughter, Jana Birdwell of Hudson, Colo.; son, Kenny and wife Rhonda Birdwell of Rusk; grandchildren, Leslie and wife Brittany Birdwell, David and Elissa Robbins, Kaylee Birdwell, Kennon Birdwell and Dillon Birdwell of Rusk; great-granddaughters, Emily and Addilee Birdwell and Emery and Avery Robbins of Rusk; brother, Charles Birdwell of Humble; and sisters, Peggy Moore and Judy Finklea and husband Gary of Cushing.
Pallbearers are Leslie Birdwell, Kennon Birdwell, Dillon Birdwell, David Robbins, Jade Rogers and Cliff Carey. Honorary pallbearers are Junior Birdwell, Mike and Steve Shingle.
