Charles Rubin Dement, Jr.

Charles Rubin Dement, Jr., born Nov. 11, 1937 to Charles Sr. and Elan (Roberts) Dement entered eternal life Monday, May 4, 2020 in Jacksonville. He was 82 years old.

A graveside service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Oakland Cemetery with R.S. Dyess officiating. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

He was a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Charles retired from Texas Department of Corrections and worked at Rusk State Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy Lynn Dement.

Left to cherish Charles's memory are his son, Harold Dement and wife Debbie of Rusk; and daughter, Stacy Sloan of Cleburne. He also survived by six grandchildren, Amber and Jason Haynes, Brandon and Candus Dement, Neil and Jessica Castor, Zeke Castor, Jimmie Lynn Dement and Kolt Dement; and three great-grandchildren, Paisley Castor, Harlea Haynes and Carmyn Dement.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
