Troup plans annual Christmas parade
The Troup Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas parade will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13. This year’s theme is An All-American Christmas.
The grand marshals this year are local veterans, who can still sign up to participate through Monday, Dec. 10. Local veterans of the U.S. military are encouraged to call Suzanne at the Chamber of Commerce, (903) 842-4113.
The grand marshals will lead the parade, which begins at the intersection of Carolina and Duval streets. The parade will continue down Duval and will end when it turns right onto Front Street. After the parade, Santa Claus will distribute candy and prizes at the Cameron-J. Jarvis Library parking lot.
Troup residents have until Monday, Dec. 10 to register to participate in the Chamber’s annual Home and Business Decorating contest, too. Enter to be judged in the contest by calling (903) 574-3928, or email sloudamy@trouptx.com. Winners of the contest will be announced at the Christmas parade.
The Chamber has also extended the deadline for the second annual Neckover Charity Pantry Haul to Friday, Dec. 14. Citizens have the opportunity to win a 6-foot x 10-foot trailer by donating $10 or 10 pounds of non-perishable food items at Neckover Trailers, 938 S. Railroad St., in Troup. Proceeds and donations benefit the Troup Methodist Church and Whitehouse food pantries.
Troup High School’s Student Council is offering last-minute shopping during the Candy Cane Lane Holiday Market. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Troup Middle School gym, 817 Arp Dr., Troup.
Troup ISD bands will also hold their annual winter concerts at 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at Troup Middle School, 817 Arp Dr., Troup.
