Horn, Davis compete in IFYR

Reagan Davis of Alto and Haley Horn of Wells are in Shawnee, Oklahoma competing in the International Final Youth Rodeo (IFYR) for a chance to win their portion of over $250,000 in prize money.

Davis is competing in three events; barrel racing, pole bending and breakaway roping.

On Sunday, July 8 she scored a time of 17.266 in barrel racing, earning her a seventh place spot. Her next ride in this event will be on Friday morning.

Davis competed in both pole bending and breakaway roping on Monday evening, with her final rides in those events coming on Thursday morning.

She earned a first place spot with a time of 19.876 in pole bending . Davies tied with Jayden Gould of Lufkin for fifth place with a time of 2.7 in breakaway roping.

Horn is competing in barrel racing and breakaway roping.

Her first event was breakaway roping on Sunday. In the first go she scored a time of 3.5 and tied for eighth place with a Lauren Craig, a contender from Rougan, LA. In the second go, Horn once again earned a 3.5 and again tied with Craig for a 13th place spot. She will compete again on Friday.

Horn rode in her first barrels event on Monday, but did not place in the top 15 so her times were not released. She will have her final run on Thursday morning.

The IFYR is an internationally recognized high school rodeo that was established in 1993 and held annually in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

This event attracts high school rodeo athletes from around the world and events include barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding.

The IFYR consists of two long go-rounds and the short go. All contestants complete once in each of the long go-rounds and the top 15 averages in each event will compete for half the prize purse in the short go.

Prizes also include championship saddles, buckles and more.
