Two Special Olympics Texas Competitions This Week: Cycling and Track & Field
Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) will host two competitions this week in the East Texas area: Cycling and Track & Field.
Friday, April 27: 5 to 9 p.m.
Cycling
Abe Martin Stadium, Lufkin High School
22 athletes, ages 12 to 56, will compete in 500 M, 1K, 5K, 10K, and 15K races
Saturday, April 28: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Track & Field
Abe Martin Stadium, Lufkin High School
279 athletes, ages 8 to 68, will compete in Competing in Walk Races (10 M - 100M); Running events (50M - 400M); 4x100M Relay; 4x100M Unified Relay; Long Jump; Softball Throw; Shot Put; Ball Throw for Distance; Mini Jav
The events are open to the public and free to attend. Athletes as young as eight years old will show off their skills, while players 12 years and up will be competing as a means to qualify for the upcoming statewide tournament, Summer Games, which will take place in Arlington from May 24-27.
