Audrey Murlene Tylich, 80, passed away January 13, 2023 at Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. Services will be January 17, 2023 at 2 PM at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Bro. Odis Bryan and Bro. Jack White officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home.

Murlene was born on May 14, 1942 to Aubie and Mildred Donner in Crockett, Texas. She graduated from Smiley High School in Houston, Texas, and went to work for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. She met the love of her life at a drive-in movie theatre and was married to Alex Sonny Tylich on June 16, 1961. After moving to Rusk, Texas, with their three children, Murlene worked as a sales associate at Isaac’s Western Wear before working as, and retiring from, a reservation clerk for the Texas State Railroad.

Murlene would tell you that her greatest pride and joy was her family. She supported her husband as a partner in his drywall business, and was her children’s biggest fan in everything from band concerts, choir concerts, football games, high school and college graduations. Murlene loved to watch Hallmark movies (over, and over, and over…), beating the Jeopardy champions daily, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading books, purchasing a hanging basket of petunias annually for birds to make a nest and then letting it die because she couldn’t water it for fear of drowning the baby birds; feeding and watching hummingbirds chase each other around the yard. Although somewhat technology challenged, she was so excited when she finally mastered online shopping from WalMart and Amazon.

Preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, her parents and her sister.

Survivors include her children, David Tylich (Laura), Wendy Tylich (Joe) and Jody Tylich (Amy). Grandchildren, Jacob Tylich (Taylor), Cera Reynolds (Jon), Jacie Walley (Justin), Sydni Tylich (Dylan) and Caden Tylich. Great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Aubree, Allie, Addy and Asher. Step-daughter Kathie Talbert and family.

Pallbearers will be Andy Huddleston, Darrin Rushing, Jon Reynolds, Caden Tylich, Dylan Hasty, and Justin Robertson. Honorary pallbearers Michael Knight and Frank Hicks.
