Our sweet Dad, William E. (Billy) Watson peacefully met his savior on Saturday October 22, 2022 with his wife of 69 years by his side. He was 89 years old.

Billy was born March 29, 1933 in Maydelle, Texas to Dewey Jake and Marcelite Watson.

He was the oldest of six children.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bud Watson and baby Larry Jack Watson.

In his early years, dad delivered groceries for Felton Banks grocery. Followed by his military service in the Korean War. After this, he received his masters degree in education and taught math and coached girls basketball for Rusk ISD. For years after that he was the Director of Adult Basic Education in many counties of Texas. Dad also was a longtime member of the Lions Club and oversaw the swimming pool for many years in Rusk.

Dad was honored to be a deacon of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist church where he faithfully worshiped till the Lord called him home.

Dad has left behind his wife, Ruby Darline Watson; son and daughter-in-law Tony and Jackie Watson; daughter and son-in-law Christy and Kevin Buchinger. Three grands that grandpa adored, Leigh Ann and James Pyle, April and Terry Torres, Carter and Courtney Bersano. Three great grands that he loved to see, Meaghan Pyle, Madison and Lillian Torres. As well as brothers, Jimmy Watson and Eldon Earl Watson and sister Mari Maude Meador.

Pallbearers include: Billy Perry, Bobby Perry, Kevin Watson, Dwain Coats, Kevin Buchinger and Carter Bersano.

Visitation and funeral will be Wednesday October 26, 2022, starting at noon with funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would be honored for all who knew and loved Dad to attend.
