J’ville man killed in Texas 135 wreck early Tuesday
CHEROKEE COUNTY – A Jacksonville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle wreck early Tuesday morning on Texas Highway 135 outside Jacksonville.
Juan A. Rios, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Judge Phillip Grimes, according to a DPS report.
Troopers responded at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, of a wreck approximately one mile northeast of Jacksonville on Highway 135, a preliminary investigation report noted.
A 1995 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Rios was traveling northeast along Highway 135 at an unsafe speed when it failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and the vehicle subsequently left the roadway, striking a pipe fence, the report stated, noting that Rios was not wearing a seatbelt.
A healthy Cherokee County requires great community news.
