Local active probable C-19 cases rapidly amass over 1-week period

Active probable COVID-19 cases are rapidly amassing in Cherokee County, rising from 32 on July 20, doubling to 66 on Wednesday, July 27, according to data provided by the Cherokee County Health Department.

During that same period, total active confirmed cases rose from 1 to 7.

Meanwhile, the total probable number of cases in the county rose from 2,109 on July 20, to 2,180 on July 27; the number of total confirmed cases also rose, from 2,271 on July 20, to 2,278 reported July 27 by county health officials.

A dashboard circulated by CCPHD shows the highest number of cases are among the 21-30 demographic, with 654 reported cases, while seniors ages 81 and older reporting 141 cases. The snapshot notes that community spread is responsible for 98 percent of the COVID-19 cases, with female victims outnumbering male ones, 2,287 to 1,819.

Of the total 4,458 cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic last March, 4,215 in-dividuals have reported recovery from the virus.
