Funeral services for Polly Smith, 60, of Nacogdoches and formerly of Alto, will be held Thursday, July 29, at 2 p.m. in the Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Alto with Rev. Chester Whitaker officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Alto.

Polly was born July 23, 1960, to the late Lawrence and Alice Mitchell Smith. God called her home Wednesday, June 21, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Polly attended Alto ISD and had confessed her faith and become a member of the Weeping Mary Baptist Church at age 12. She was an active member up until her death. She worked at the Rusk State Hospital for 10 years, Access for 11 years and The Arbors Nursing Home for 4 years.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Alice Smith; her brothers Willie C. Brown, Willis R. Brown, Alton Smith, Jimmy Smith, Lawrence Smith Jr., Deottsie Smith and Milton Smith; sisters Dorena Mae Smith, May Ola Findley, Alice Fay Reagan and Rosetta Findley.

She leaves to cherish her memory her longtime companion and caretaker Eddie Moore; daughters Tandya Smith of Nacogdoches, Shaneia Smith of Garland and Ronesha Skinner (Jeremy) of Alto; stepson Jeff Pope; grandchildren Kobe Poole, Kaeden Thacker, Kesean Thacker, Jaydon Skinner, Jayce Skinner; and her loving angel Kason who preceded her in death; very special aunts Lorine Ogletree and Lois Anderson; special niece Venecia Reagan; and longtime friends Jo Ann Sturns, Karen Bolton and Terri Grogan as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

There will be a visitation Wednesday from 1-6 PM at the funeral home.
