Johnnie Lucas

A funeral service for Johnnie Lucas, 64, of Rusk, will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday March 18, 2021 at the First Baptist Church under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Givens officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Lucas passed away March 15, 2021. He was born September 30, 1956 in Jacksonville, Texas. Johnnie worked 15 years in concrete, and then went to work for TDCJ for 28 years before retiring in 2019. Johnnie loved hunting, fishing, spending time with family, taking trips to the beach with his wife, kids and grandkids, working in the yard, taking grandkids to practices, watching them play games, woodworking and crafting, and much more.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lucas; mother, Sue Wallace and her husband Robert Wallace.

He is survived by his wife Vicki Lucas; son Cole and Morgan Lucas of Flint; son Cord and Krystin Lucas of Alto; grandchildren Case, Kyndall, Breckyn and Easton Lucas; his twin brother Ronnie Lucas and wife Donnita Lucas of Rusk; sister Dollie Brooks and husband Joe Brooks of Sacul; brother Scott Lucas and wife Melissa Lucas of Rusk; brother-in-law Gary Don Wallace of Lufkin; brother-in-law Mike Wallace of Kansas; sister-in-law Patti Low and husband Mike Low of Alto; and brother-in-law David Wallace and wife Jennifer Wallace of Etoile.

Pallbearers will include Keith Norton, Don Garner, Jeffrey Davis, Larry Robertson, Billy McCutchon and Billy Mike Cornelius.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2021 until service time at First Baptist Church.
