UPDATE: Ex-Chamber official arrested for theft of a nonprofit

RUSK – Former Rusk Chamber of Commerce Manager Tara Hood Tatarsky was arrested Monday afternoon on a Grand Jury indictment warrant for theft of property from a non-profit in the amount of $2,500 to $30,000, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson.

Tatarsky has been released on a $10,000 pre-set bond issued by the Grand Jury, according to Cherokee County Jail officials.

The arrest occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. Dec. 28 at her residence in Rusk, Dickson said.

According to Rusk Police Chief Stephen Hughes, the case originated when Chamber President Austin Young met with police about concerns of alleged theft from the nonprofit organization.
