Odell Hinton was born to Adell and Audrey Peoples on October 28, 1946 in Jacksonville, Texas; he entered eternal life December 8, 2020 in Tyler, Texas.
Odell was reared in Jacksonville, and graduated from Fred Douglass High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army for three years. He attended Langston University, Tyler Junior College and Jacksonville Baptist College.
He was former postmaster of Frankston Texas, he was employed with U S Postal Service for 37 years. He was a lifelong devoted member of Sweet Union Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, budget chairperson, choirs, and finance committee person. He served on the Jacksonville Development Corporation Board, Mentor for JISD, President of Frankston Athletic Booster Club, Lake Palestine Kiwanis Club Board Member and Treasurer of Northside Community Improvement Organization. To cherish his memory a wife, Jean Hinton; daughter, Stephanie Hinton; two sons, Desmond Hinton and Kelvin Green; step-daughter, Twiana Armstrong; step-sons, Claude Armstrong, Jr. and Gerald Armstrong; sister, Lula Hinton; brother Adulphus Hinton; and eleven grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday 1:00 -5:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Graveside service Saturday Dec.19, 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery, Jacksonville.
