Thunderstorm warning

National Weather Service – Shreveport has issued a significant weather advisory for Cherokee, Rusk and southeastern Smith counties until 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

At 11:10 a.m., it was reported that thunderstorms were blowing over small objects and small limbs along a line extending from near Overton to nine miles west of Maydelle, including Jacksonville, according to www.weather.gov.

"Movement was southeast at 30 mph, with wind gusts in excess of 30 mph expected to continue with these storms," the site stated.

Locations impacted include Jacksonville, Rusk, Troup, Alto, Ponta, Mount Selman, Mixon, Maydelle, New Summerfield, Gallatin and Reklaw.
