Audrey Jewel Townsend

Audrey Jewel Townsend, age 79, of Rusk, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. She was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Kountze, Texas.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2020, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Rusk with Brother Don Copeland officiating.

She truly loved all kids and sports and was a coach to many of us for softball and basketball in the 1970-80s. She worked for Rusk ISD for many years; Isaacs Motor Co.; and retired from Bacon Auto in Palestine.

She was proceeded in death by her precious daughter, Jennifer Townsend; parents, Jeff and Gertie Overstreet; and husband, Jim Townsend.

Our sweet mother is survived in death by son, Brian and wife Misty Townsend of Alto; daughters, Julie Townsend of Rusk and Lisa Townsend Parr and husband Robert (Bob) Parr of Decatur Texas; grandsons, Hunter and Todd Hayden Townsend; granddaughter, Katie Farmer and husband Lee; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Derek Jordan, Kayla Middleton, Shayla Townsend and Emma Duvall; brother, Jeff and wife Margaret of Livingston; sister, Cindy Overstreet, also of Livingston; brother-in-law and wife Wayne and Betty Townsend of Rusk; best friend, Maxine Strait of Rusk; and many nieces and nephews.
