Long announces his bid for Sheriff
My name is Eric Long and I am running for the position of Sheriff of Cherokee County.
I was born and raised in Rusk, where I attended school and graduated from Rusk High School in 1986.
I attended Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University where I studied Criminal Justice.
Following college, I worked with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services where I received training working with MHMR.
I also worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and became a member of the React Team and received training in riot control, forced cell moves, K-9 and search and rescue.
In 1997 I decided to advance my career in law enforcement and completed training to become a Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper.
I served the citizens of Texas and Cherokee County for more than 30 years in that capacity and retired as a Senior Trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Throughout my career I received my Master Peace Officer Certification, Instructor Certification and Firearms Instructor Certification.
If elected to the sheriff’s office, I will use my knowledge and experience to serve the citizens of Cherokee County.
Please vote LONG for Sheriff. Thank you.
