Birmingham Golf Club in Rusk held its Mulligan Open on Dec. 14.

Bears and blankets were collected and donated to CASA of Trinity Valley, who presents the items to every child going into foster care in Cherokee and other counties.

“We appreciate everyone who came out to play in our Mulligan Open,” Club owner Mark Raiborn said. “Not only did players get a Mulligan on every hole, but they also got opportunities to throw their ball without it counting as a stroke! Needless to say, some scores went quite low!”

Winning the top flight in the nine-hole tournament was Brian Raiborn with a -17. A distant second was Mark Raiborn at -7 and third went to Tommy McElroy, with a -5. Calvin Short survived a scorecard playoff with Austin Davis to win his flight at 1 over 37. Ending up third, with a 38, was Skip Huggins. Skip also took closest to the hole on #6.
