New Summerfield kicks off soccer season with a win, a tie

The New Summerfield soccer teams hosted scrimmages against Grand Saline.

The girls’ soccer team defeated Grand Saline three goals to zero with Areli Rubio, Natalie Melendez and Evelyn Rangel scoring on behalf of the Lady Hornets.

The boys’ team finished the game in a 1-1 tie with the single goal for the Hornets earned by Marco Uribe.

Both teams were set to host Tenaha on Monday, Dec. 16.

The next set of games will not be until the Jacksonville Tournament Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 2-4 for the boys and Saturday, Jan. 4, for the girls when they travel to Palestine.

Indians to start season in Lindale

Upcoming Jacksonville Indian soccer games include a match up between the Maidens, who travel to Lindale, Thursday, Dec. 19.

Games starts at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The Jacksonville Indians face the Henderson Lions at home, Friday, Dec. 20.

Those games start at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
