Low impact exercise

Members of a Thursday morning water aerobics class recently fit in a quick workout at the Rusk City Pool before being chased out of the water by lightning. The free program, offered since early June, draws up to about two dozen participants to a Tuesday-Thursday session, while the Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning classes are catching up in popularity.

At the Museum
Honoring the state’s first native governor, a special exhibit focusing on Governor Jim Hogg (1891-94) will include a special metal sculpture of Hogg displayed outside the Heritage Center of Cherokee County, Texas. The display includes two markers: One with a brief biography of Hogg, the other, a copy of an essay Hogg penned, “On the Future of Texas.”
