Donna was born in Prescott, Arizona on March 15, 1937 to L.H. and Gladys (Rold) Evans. At the age of six, her family moved to Rockport, Indiana where they lived for one year before moving to Dialville, Texas and eventually to Rusk where she graduated from high school. It was during her sophomore year that she met her husband and on November 10, 1954, they were married. They soon started a 23-year adventure serving our great country together in the United States Air Force, where she was, as she said, “married to my husband and the Air Force…and I enjoy the military life tremendously.” During that time, Harlan, Donna and family moved frequently with children born in California, Texas, Illinois and Alaska with other adventures in Louisiana, Mississippi, Michigan and Oklahoma. She was very active with her children to include both Cub Scout and Girl Scout organizations and school activities. Donna was also a sports enthusiast participating in bowling, swimming, dancing and camping. She also loved reading, playing the piano, and writing to include many pieces of poetry. After many adventures, they moved to Reklaw where they were able to celebrate 66 years of marriage. Donna was a devoted wife and dedicated mother to her children. Many loving and instructional moments will always be cherished and remembered by those who were blessed to know her.
